INSAN welcoming government to include Orang Kurang Upaya (OKU) in the newly-announced Budget 2018, as part of the inclusivity initiative in national budgetary as promised by YAB Prime Minister Najib Razak.
Enlarging the scope of the tax-exempt initiative for companies who employed OKU with a permanent disability caused by accident or critical diseases is most welcomed. In fact, we facing a serious lacking number of employed OKU in both government and private sectors.
This is foreseen as a great boost for companies in the private sector to employ more OKUs in the long run, thus offering hope and more inclusivity to the community to be part of the society and contribute to the advancement in OKUs well-being.
We also believe the increment in welfare allocations for OKU is a right call, although it is far from adequate to solve socio-economic stagnancy among the community.
We will not succumb to the trail of blazing congratulations from many sides to the government for putting inclusivity in such scale in this budgetary but strongly urge the government to walk the talk and ensure all intended beneficiaries make their ends meet prosperously.
